Sports physiotherapy

Physiotherapy for athletes in the south of Tenerife:

We treat any athlete or sportsperson suffering from an injury or trauma produced either during or outside of physical activity.

Athletes need special care and treatmentsthat differ to those required bythose with more sedentary lifestyles.

In addition to our training in physiotherapy, we are also graduates in Physical Education, meaning that we fully understand the dynamics of each sport and the specific biomechanics of movement as well as possessing a thorough understanding of the anatomy and physiology of each injury.

We assess the different injuries taking into account the activity, the general physical condition and above all the muscular imbalances caused by the sports practiced.

We then use a combination of both manual techniques and specific equipment, with exercise programmes based on proprioception methods, Pilates, functional training, etc, achieving complete recovery.

Most of our cases are acute traumatic processes that generally resolve quickly.

Chronic injuries that last over a period of time require a longer treatment plan, taking into account the recovery of muscular capacities such as excitability, elasticity, contractility and tonicity, which should be controlled when undertaking sport. To achieve this, we develop a working formula that guarantees that the athlete performs their activity with the least possible risk.

We treat injuries such as:
  • Ankle sprains
  • Knee sprains
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Patellar tendonitis
  • Pes Anserine tendonitis (goose foot tendon)
  • Achilles tendonitis
  • Chondromalacia patella
  • Meniscus injuries
  • Morton's neuroma
  • Baker's cyst
  • Wrist: tendonitis, sprains, carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Lateral epicondylitis (Tennis elbow)
  • Medial epicondylitis (Golfer's elbow)
  • Shoulder tendonitis (supraspinatus, rotator cuff, etc.)
  • Joint pain during sports practice
  • Impact pains
  • Pyramidal syndrome
  • Iliotibial band syndrome
  • Periostitis
  • Trochanteritis
  • Bursitis
  • Fibrillar tears or ruptures

TECARTHERAPY

Tecar therapy uses a capacitive and resistive hyperthermia device, based on cell regeneration, by raising the internal temperature of the body in the area of the injury. This intensifies cell activity, activating circulation and oxygenating endocellular respiration, which helps in the regeneration of injured tissues.

And, in addition to having a thermal effect, our treatments with LavaTRON-250 also act electrically, stimulating the body's natural rebalancing capabilities without risks or harmful effects.
