Why posture matters during the growing years?
In this period there are many changes in the musculoskeletal system, and very often the bone structure develops faster than the muscular system, particularly in children who will go on to be of medium to tall height as adults.
On top of that, children today spend many hours sitting in class and in front of a computer, which means their muscles become tighter. That makes it very difficult for them to hold a good posture standing, sitting or even while exercising, which frequently makes movement harder to perform, with the frustration and the giving up that follow.
Added to all this are the demands of schoolwork, excessively heavy school bags, poor diet and so on.
What causes back pain in children and teenagers?
All these factors are the origin of back pain at an early age.
A large proportion of neck and lower back pain in childhood and early adolescence is down to muscles and ligaments NOT working correctly. What is more, when a child has back problems, the risk of suffering from them chronically as an adult increases enormously.
The various problems that come from poor postural alignment turn into intense pain, muscular contractures and cardiac, respiratory and/or digestive problems.
However, a child's developmental stage is the ideal moment for postural learning. It is precisely during the growth period that good muscular work becomes essential.
What our corrective postural exercise achieves?
At our centre we offer a method of corrective postural exercise with a lot of benefits, through which children will:
- Help very effectively to avoid or reduce conditions such as scoliosis, lordosis, knock knees, bow legs and others.
- Learn to know their body and become aware of their body schema.
- Improve coordination, concentration and attention.
- Reduce fatigue and increase endurance.
- Complement their sporting activity, strengthening the muscles and improving mobility and flexibility.
